Brett Manning is a 24 year old girl. She lives and works from her home in Chicago.
Everything she creates acts as a visual diary, commenting on things and events which have moved her in some sort of sentimental and memorable way. She often creates very personal works based on her dreams, and the use of ambiguous symbols and allusions tend to appear to be delivering some sort of story, maybe one we've all heard, but cannot seem to pin-point. She is interested in the collected unconscious and and the connection of all living and non-living things so her works can appear to make otherwise strange associations and surreal juxtapositions, but it's all pretty light-hearted. Ultimately, Brett purposely tries to never dictate anything through her work and only communicate recognizable and graceful forms. Patterns, rhythm, tradition, humor, geometrics, truth, comfort, balance, and love are universal themes that are the building blocks for all of her works, but if every piece of her art had to be smashed together, they would all have one important thing in common; they were created with sincerity and passion.
